We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What Data We Collect
Depending on how you use Kickdown, we may collect the following information.
Account Information
This may include:
- email address;
- username or display name;
- profile photo;

Location Data
Kickdown collects precise GPS location data to record your drives. This may include:

- altitude and GPS accuracy.
Location data is collected only when you have granted location permission in your device settings and:
- you are actively recording a drive; or
- you have enabled automatic/background drive detection, in which case the app uses background location access to detect when a drive starts and ends and to record the route while the drive is in progress.
You can change or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. If you do so, drive recording and related features (routes, speed, statistics, leaderboards) will stop working or will be limited. We treat precise location as sensitive data and protect it accordingly.
Driving Data
We may collect information generated from your drives, including:
- routes;
- distance;
- duration;
- average speed;
- maximum speed;
- driving statistics;

If you purchase a subscription, we may receive information such as:
- subscription status;

If you contact us, we may keep your messages and our responses in order to provide support and maintain appropriate records.
Data We Do Not Collect
We do not knowingly collect government identifiers, biometric data, health data or other special categories of personal data. Please do not send us such information.
Is Providing Data Obligatory?
Providing personal data is voluntary, but some data is necessary to use the Service: without account information we cannot create your account, and without location permission we cannot record your drives. Providing other data (such as vehicle details or a profile photo) is optional.

Location and Driving Data
Location data is an important part of Kickdown.
We use location information only to record your drives and provide features such as routes, distance, speed and driving statistics.
We do not use precise location data for advertising and do not provide it to third parties for their own purposes.
Your detailed driving routes are not publicly visible by default. Some aggregate information, such as rankings, achievements or total distance, may be visible to other users depending on the features and your privacy settings. You control what you share.
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States.
When personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on safeguards required by GDPR, such as:
- a European Commission adequacy decision, including the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework for certified U.S. providers; or
- Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, with additional safeguards where necessary.
You can request more information about these safeguards at privacy@kickdown.app.

We may keep certain data longer where the law requires it or where it is needed to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
Anonymous or aggregated information that can no longer identify you may be retained.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where supported by our infrastructure, access controls, secure authentication and monitoring of our systems.
No online service can guarantee complete security. If we become aware of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the competent supervisory authority and, where required, affected users, in accordance with GDPR.
Automated Decision-Making
We do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR. Rankings, statistics and achievements are calculated automatically, but they are not used to make decisions about you outside the Service.
